Curator's Message

The museum reopened in February for the new season, and had a great first week with 101 adults and 32 children. For half-term we also welcomed back Bedford Chronicles for the children’s workshops Potions, Posies, and Poems. The 29 children who took part had great fun making bouquet garni bags for 17th Century ‘love’ potions, posy rings, and fantastic acrostic poems.

We will have more activities on Thursday 1 June for May half-term.

Letter writing competition

Don’t forget to enter our annual competition for school-aged children and young people. Imagine you are Elizabeth Bunyan; your husband John Bunyan has been imprisoned for his beliefs, and you have to write a letter to the powerful judges to plead and argue for his release. There are four age groups with a first, second and third prize for each of the categories.

The closing date for the competition is 5 June 2017 and the winners will be announced at a special presentation evening at the Museum on Tuesday 4 July 2017.

Full details and entry forms are available here, from the museum shop, or from bookshops Waterstones and Rogan Books. Posters and entry forms were sent to all Bedford Borough schools at the end of February.
